Viking Vane Pumps (Sliding Vane Design)

Viking Vane Pumps (Sliding Vane Design)

Viking Vane Pumps are sliding-vane positive-displacement pumps engineered for high-pressure, thin-liquid service. With 316 stainless steel housing and PEEK vanes, they handle low-viscosity acids, solvents, refined fuels and monomers up to 200 PSI — even on the thinnest liquids that defeat gear pumps. Capacity up to 160 GPM (36 m³/h), viscosity up to 2,300 SSU (500 cSt) and temperature 0°F to +275°F (-15°C to +135°C).

The sliding-vane principle uses spring-loaded PEEK vanes that ride against the bore of a hardened 316SS housing, creating sealed pumping cavities. The vanes self-adjust for wear, maintaining consistent volumetric efficiency over the pump's service life. Opposite porting allows easy in-line installation. Built-in gauge ports support local or remote monitoring, and an internal relief valve provides over-pressure protection. The pump is self-priming with excellent suction-lift capability for tank, tote and rail-car unloading. PEEK vanes and silicon-carbide bushings combined with 316SS wetted parts give broad chemical compatibility for demanding industrial duty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Viking Vane Pumps deliver capacity up to 160 GPM (36 m³/h), pressure up to 200 PSI (14 BAR) and handle viscosity up to 2,300 SSU (500 cSt). Operating temperature is 0°F to +275°F (-15°C to +135°C).
Vane pumps maintain volumetric efficiency on thin liquids (acids, solvents, fuels) at high pressure where gear pumps slip and lose flow. The self-adjusting vanes also maintain performance over the service life as wear occurs, while gear pumps lose efficiency permanently. Vane pumps are also self-priming and tolerate suction-lift service.
Externals (head and casing) and internal rotor & shaft are hardened 316 stainless steel for broad chemical compatibility. Vanes and push rods are PEEK (non-metallic, self-lubricating). Bushings are silicon carbide. This combination handles acids, alkalis, solvents, monomers and aqueous solutions reliably.
Yes. The sliding-vane self-priming design gives excellent suction-lift capability, making vane pumps ideal for tank, tote and rail-car unloading service. Combined with the internal relief valve and gauge ports, they make a complete unloading-station solution.
